Accessibility
Last updated October 26, 2026
Del wants everyone who is searching for life’s purpose to be able to read his work, whatever their abilities and however they use the web. This site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard referred to by the Americans with Disabilities Act, Ontario’s AODA and Europe’s EN 301 549.
What has been done
- Every page has a clear heading structure, a link to skip straight to the content, and a menu that works with a keyboard alone.
- Links and buttons show a visible outline when you move to them with the keyboard.
- Text meets the WCAG contrast ratios in both the light and dark versions of the site, which follow your device’s setting.
- Text can be enlarged to 200% or more, and pages reflow to fit small screens without scrolling sideways.
- Images that carry meaning have text descriptions; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Nothing plays, moves or flashes on its own. Animation is turned off if your device asks for reduced motion.
- The book trailer has a text version alongside it, and the words of the trailer appear on screen.
- The book outline is available as a web page as well as a downloadable PDF.
- There are no time limits, pop-ups or forms to complete.
The site was last reviewed in October 2026, using automated testing (axe-core) on every type of page together with manual checks of keyboard use, colour contrast, zoom and screen-reader labels.
Known limitations
- YouTube videos. The Meaning of Life video series plays in YouTube’s player, which has its own captions and keyboard controls. Some captions may be generated automatically and contain errors.
- Older material. A few pieces, such as the book announcement video on Microsoft OneDrive and the interviews hosted by other outlets, live on other websites whose accessibility is outside Del’s control.
If anything on this site is hard to use — a video without a transcript, a blog image you can’t make out, or a page that doesn’t work with your screen reader — please say so. Del will do his best to provide the content in a form that works for you, such as a transcript or a plain-text version.
Feedback and help
