Privacy Policy
Last updated October 26, 2026
This is the website of author Del H. Smith. It is a simple site for reading: there are no accounts, no forms, no newsletter sign-up and no shop. This page explains the little information that is involved in visiting it, and what choices you have.
The short version
- This site does not use cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind.
- It does not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details.
- If you email Del, he receives your message and email address, and uses them only to reply to you.
- Videos on the Videos page come from YouTube, and load only when you press play.
- Your information is never sold, rented or shared for advertising.
Information collected when you visit
Server logs. The site is hosted by Vercel. Like every web host, Vercel’s servers briefly record technical details of each request — your IP address, the page asked for, the date and time, and your browser type — so that the site can be delivered and protected from abuse. These logs are not used to identify you or build a profile of you, and Del does not combine them with any other information. Vercel keeps them for a limited time under its own privacy policy.
Cookies. This site sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Its fonts and images are served from this site itself, not from third-party services, so reading a page does not send your details anywhere else.
Information you choose to send
The only way to contact Del through this site is by email. If you write to him, he receives your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. He uses this only to read and reply to your message. It is not added to any mailing list or passed to anyone else, and you can ask him to delete your correspondence at any time. Email is handled by his email provider under its own privacy terms.
Other services
YouTube. The Videos page plays Del’s video series from YouTube, using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play. Once you do, YouTube (owned by Google) may set cookies and collect information about your viewing under Google’s privacy policy.
Links to other sites. This site links to other places, including Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Microsoft OneDrive and the outlets that have interviewed Del. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover. Buying the book on Amazon, for example, is handled entirely by Amazon.
Children
This site is meant for adult readers and does not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has emailed Del with personal details, let him know and the message will be deleted.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under Canada’s PIPEDA, the European Union and United Kingdom GDPR, and U.S. state privacy laws such as California’s — you may have the right to ask what personal information is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how it is used. Since the site itself collects nothing about you, in practice this applies only to emails you have sent. To make a request, write to the address below; there is no charge, and you will receive a reply within 30 days.
Because the site does no tracking, there is nothing to opt out of. Browser signals such as Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track are respected automatically.
If you are not satisfied with a reply, you may complain to your privacy regulator, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the data protection authority where you live.
Where information is processed
Vercel operates servers in many countries, including the United States, so server logs may be processed outside the country you live in. Vercel provides the safeguards required for such transfers, as described in its privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
If the site changes in a way that affects your privacy — for example, by adding a sign-up form — this page will be updated first, and the date at the top will change.
